Sunday Night Football

September is upon us which is a very exciting time of year for us event enthusiasts.  For starters it means many gorgeous fall weddings in our future, but it is also the beginning of festive events like Thanksgiving and Halloween.  And if your household is anything like mine, it is also the start of football season and boy free Sunday’s until February!

If you really want to get in the good books with your significant other, why not host a Sunday Night Football party for him and his friends?

First and foremost, a football party would not be complete without munchies, and I don’t mean tea sandwiches and scones. Focus on making some really hardy, filling foods like chili, nachos, wings and mini sliders.  Don’t forget the beer nuts and chips and keep ’em comin.   Below is a link to our favourite chili recipe and a sure way into your man’s heart. http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/beef-chili-recipe/index.html

Boys really like food, but they LOVE beer.  Spice up your party by offering beer samplers.  During each quarter of the game you can feature a different brewery and various beers from that manufacturer. It is best to keep the portions smaller than a pint and offer a variety of tastes from lagers and ales to stouts, and so on, so they get a well-rounded experience.

If you have some cash to blow and really want to knock it out of the park, hire a catering company to serve the food and drinks.  Your guests will feel like celebs.  For an added touch have the wait staff wear referee uniforms 🙂

Guys are always up for a friendly competition so why not take the rivalry to the next level and have each person guess what the score will be at the end of each quarter. The person who has the lowest discrepancy across all 4 quarters wins.  If you want to come up with a creative prize for the winner, go for it.  But I’m sure bragging rights will be enough.

Last but not least, make sure your tv is in a prime viewing location and you have plenty of seating.  Nothing is worse than not being able to see the main attraction.

Go team go!
