A Miller Lash House Wedding

The Miller Lash House in Scarborough is a hidden gem of a venue. If you live in the GTA and you are not familiar with this location, I highly recommend you check it out:  www.millerlashhouse.ca.  For me, it was love at first sight, and it will always hold a special place in my heart, as my husband Jeff & I had our wedding at the Miller Lash House one year ago this weekend.

We met under wooden arbor in front of 150 of our closest family and friends. The arbor was adorned with copius amounts plush white hydrangea’s and hot pink roses, while the aisle way was scattered with pink and white rose petals. My mother walked me down the aisle to instrumental guitar that was played by a family friend.

Our country wedding was created with a vision of fushia pinks, apple green and white. We incorporated a hint of vintage with our restored canoe, antique bird cages and picture frames for our table numbers. Apple picking bushell baskets were the frame for our centerpieces stuffed with white hydrangeas, hot pink roses and green apples. Lattice work linen overlays sat on top of apple green silk table cloths.  The place settings were finished with a country plaid napkin.

Dinner was a BBQ theme including roasted beer can chicken, St-Louis ribs, and cedar planked mashed potatoes. Corn on the cob and grilled veggies were served family style. Dessert consisted of individual apple crumble with crème freche and caramel sauce, and a late night station of mini pulled pork sandwiches and sweet potato fries were offered for guests to enjoy!

Cupcakes were given to each guest as a takeaway so that they could have a sweet treat the next day.

Over the past year, the lovely Tammy Tennisco, Manager of the Miller Lash House has been very busy making some incredible upgrades to the venue which will provide new couples even more options when planning their special day.  For example, a second ceremony site was added, and new draping and chandelier packages are now available.  Stay tuned, as I hear there are even more new upgrades still to come…

Have a great weekend everyone!
