Happy Tuesday! I hope everyone had an enjoyable long weekend.
We are going to start the week off with some unique and exciting ideas for bridal showers. This time of year, it seems that we are bombarded with engagement parties, baby showers and bridal showers. If you have the pleasure of hosting a bridal shower for your bestie it can be difficult to make it fun and interesting for guests who have already attend 3 within the last month. So here are some non-traditional bridal shower ideas for you brides and hostesses.
1. The Friday Night Cocktail Party
This concept is for brides that want to forgo the traditional Sunday afternoon bridal shower with tea and sandwiches. Hosting a Friday night cocktail party is a great alternative, and one of my personal faves. Rent a private room in your favourite restaurant or you can even host the party in your very own humble abode. Serve champagne and a speciality cocktail and some really fabulous hors d’oeuvres. Hiring staff to serve the food and drinks is also a nice touch if you are holding the party at your home. Not only does it allow the hostess to join the party, but it also looks like you have out done yourself. Specify on the invitation that the dress code is cocktail attire, so everyone looks the part. Organize a few fun games and time for presents, and then send guests on their way. It will be a great way to start the weekend.
2. The Couples Shower
When it comes to weddings, some men want to be involved in the planning process; others avoid it like the plague. If your fiancé wants to take part in the festivities consider planning a couples shower. A backyard BBQ is ideal for a couples shower. It can be simple and understated or you can spice it up with some white lights, lanterns and flowers to make it feminine and shower-esque. You can also take it up a notch and rent some tables and white linens for a more formal affair. This concept is also great for ladies who have a lot of male friends, who wouldn’t have made the guest list if it was a traditional bridal shower.
3. The Lingerie Shower
This is an excellent idea for brides who already have everything and are struggling to create a wedding registry. If you or the bride you are hosting the shower for is lucky enough to be in this predicament, why not host a burlesque themed bridal shower. Burlesque attire is mandatory and the bride is showered with gifts of lingerie. What could be better than a brand new wardrobe of lingerie to last you your first year of marriage?
