Royally Hot

For us die hard wedding fanatics Friday, April 29, 2011 has been a much anticipated day, marked in our calendars months in advance for none other than the Royal Wedding. Sadly the day has come and gone but thanks to PVR technology we will be able to relive it any time we want to.

I was most excited to see Kate’s wedding dress and the guests’ fashionable British attire; and they did not disappoint! British people love their hats and after watching the Royal Wedding so do I. I would love nothing more than to have my very own Philip Treacy hat and coordinating dress; however I would look rather ridiculous…but a girl can dream!

With so many fashionable people present at the Royal Wedding it’s hard not to rate their style. Here are my top 5 best dressed:

1. Catherine Middleton aka The Duchess of Cambridge

Clearly Kate tops my list for best dressed. She looked stunning in her Alexander McQueen gown designed by Sarah Burton. The lace appliqué bodice was elegant and the bustle on the back of the skirt which resembled an open flower was my personal favourite. Not to mention her vintage Cartier tiara on loan from the Queen. The gown was truly a reflection of Kate’s style: elegant, classy, and understated.

2. Pippa Middleton

Kate’s sister and Maid of Honour, Pippa, nearly stole the show in her very own Alexander McQueen dress by Sarah Burton. The white, form fitting, satin dress was striking. If we hadn’t know better Pippa could have been the one tying the knot in that dress. If she hasn’t been scooped up yet, men will be lining up for this bombshell.

3. Carole Middleton

Mother of the Bride attire can often be tacky, unflattering, and has the ability to age you 30 years. Carol rocked it in her Catherine Walker blue wool crepe coat dress over a sky blue silk shantung day dress. She looked the part of the Mother of the Bride without aging herself or competing with the bride (Gotta love those mom’s that try to out shine their daughters on their big day!).

4. Prince William

I feel like the press and public created so much hype leading up to the wedding surrounding Kate – who designed her dress, how is going to wear her hair, that poor Prince William got left in the dust. Although most eyes were on Kate, Prince William looked handsome and dapper in his military uniform. Between his boyish giggles and blushing he looked super cute and charming!

5. The Beckham’s

Last but not least, we have Victoria and David Beckham. It comes as no surprise that the Beckham’s looked hot. Victoria adorned one of her own creations while David wore a fashionable Ralph Lauren morning suit.

Now that we all dream of having a royal wedding of our own, Gush wants to share some tips with you on how to transform your big day into a royal affair.

1. Get yourself a tiara. It may not be Cartier, but you will still look like royalty!

2. Rent a horse and carriage for your entrance and exit.

3. Inform your guests that British attire is a must. Hats, fascinators and tails are mandatory!

4. Find a balcony to smooch on as your wedding guests look on in admiration.

5. Enlist a band of trumpets to play as you and your groom descend down the aisle.
